  • 1 box raisins, cooked until tender and cooled thoroughly
  • 1 c. juice drained from cooked raisins
  • 3/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves

    Have raisins completely cold before starting. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease lightly 10-inch tube pan. Cream butter or margarine thoroughly; add eggs, one at a time. Beat until fluffy. Sift flour, salt, soda and spices. Add alternately with raisin juice, beating smooth each time. Stir in cold cooked raisins until well distributed; pour into pan. Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until done.
