- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 c. chopped, raw apples, cored (not pared)
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. milk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. nuts (optional)
Directions

1Mix the flour, baking soda and salt.

2Cream the shortening, sugar and eggs.

3Beat well.

4Blend in flour mixture.

5Blend in rest of ingredients.

6Pour into a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan.

7Mix 3 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon; sprinkle over top of dough.

8Bake at 350° for approximately 60 minutes or until done.
