Raw Apple Cake

  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. raw apples, diced
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla.

    Add eggs and beat well. Sift dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture.

    Add apples and nuts.

    (Mixture will be thick.)

    Bake in a 9 x 13-inch pan for 35 to 40 minutes at 350°.

    Forms a thin crust on top and need no icing unless desired.
