  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 4 c. apples, chopped and peeled

Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar, beat well; add eggs and beat. Sift dry ingredients and add to cream mixture.

    Add apples and nuts.

    Batter will be real stiff.

    Pour into 9 x 13-inch pan and bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes.

    When cool, spread with topping.
