  • 2 c. diced apples
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. salad oil
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. nut meats (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Pour sugar over apples; let stand 30 minutes.

    Add oil and beaten egg.

    Sift flour, soda, cinnamon and salt.

    Add apple sugar mixture.

    Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350° in greased and floured 8-inch square pan.

    Serve with whipping cream or frost with powdered sugar frosting flavored with lemon.
