- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 8 c. shredded red cabbage
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/4 c. lemon juice
- 1/4 c. vinegar
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 to 2 medium apples, chopped
- 1/4 c. red currant jelly
Directions

1In heavy saucepan, melt shortening.

2Add cabbage, onion, lemon juice, vinegar, sugar and salt.

3Stir well.

4Cover and cook over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes (until cabbage is crisp-tender).

5Add apples and cook 10 to 15 minutes more, until cabbage and apples are tender.

6Stir in jelly and put in serving dish.

7Garnish with lemon slices.
