- 1 head red cabbage, shredded
- 1 c. red wine
- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- few grains cayenne pepper
- 2 medium apples, peeled and quartered
- 1/4 c. cider vinegar
- 1 c. butter, melted
Directions

1Combine all ingredients, except vinegar and butter in a large pan.

2Cover and simmer over low heat about 1/2 hour or until the cabbage is tender.

3Remove from heat.

4Add the vinegar and butter and toss lightly.

5Serve hot.

6Serve with the beef rouloden or the sauerbraten for a super meal.

7Don't forget the potato dumplings.
