  • 1 1/2 c. Mazola oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 1/2 c. Swans Down cake flour
  • 1 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 oz. red food color

    Mix sugar and oil.

    Add eggs and beat well.

    Add buttermilk and dry ingredients (flour and cocoa) alternately.

    Stir in soda, salt, vanilla and food coloring; pour into greased and lined (wax paper) pans.

    Makes three 9-inch layers.

    Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
