  • 1 heaping c. shortening
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 2 c. 100% Bran Buds
  • 1 qt. buttermilk
  • 4 c. 40% Bran Flakes
  • 5 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 5 c. sifted flour

Directions

    Pour boiling water over Bran Buds and set aside to cool. Cream Crisco and sugar; add beaten eggs, buttermilk and cooked bran mixture.

    Add Bran Flakes, soda and salt.

    Fold in flour just until all is moistened.

    Place in refrigerator until ready to use. (Stores 6 to 8 weeks in refrigerator.)

    Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes in greased muffin tins.
