- 1 gal. whole cucumbers
- 4 c. vinegar
- 4 Tbsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. pickling spice
- 2 Tbsp. alum
- 4 c. sugar
- 6 Tbsp. water
Directions

1Wash cucumbers and place in gallon jar.

2Add vinegar, salt, pickling spice and alum.

3Add cold water to fill jar.

4Place lid on jar and let stand 3 to 4 weeks.

5Drain pickles; rinse and slice thinly into a large bowl.

6Cucumbers will be soft at this time but will become crisp later.

7Add sugar and water and let stand, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved.

8Put in plastic or glass containers and place in refrigerator.

9Will keep for one year.
