  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. warm water
  • 7 c. flour

Directions

    Stir first 3 ingredients until dissolved and let stand 45 minutes.

    Cream the 1/2 cup sugar and shortening.

    Add salt and egg.

    Beat well.

    Add warm water and yeast mixture.

    Add enough flour to make a soft dough and let rise until double in bulk. Knead smooth.

    Cover and place in refrigerator until wanted. Shape into rolls.

    Let rise until double.

    Bake 15 minutes in 450° oven.
