Ingredients
- 3 1/4 to 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 c. hot water
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 egg, beaten
Directions

1Soften yeast in lukewarm water.

2Pour hot water over sugar, salt and shortening.

3Cool to lukewarm.

4Add 1/2 cup flour and mix thoroughly.

5Stir in softened yeast half of remaining flour and egg; beat.

6Add enough flour to form a soft dough.

7Turn out on lightly floured board and let rest 5 to 10 minutes.

8Knead until smooth and elastic.

9Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease top.

10Cover and let rise until double in bulk.

11Punch down and grease top.
-
12Cover with dampened towel and refrigerate.
