  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 c. cold water
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 c. plain all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in cold water.

    Cream shortening.

    Slowly add sugar and boiling water.

    When cool, add yeast and well beaten eggs.

    Add flour sifted with salt.

    Mix thoroughly, preferably with dough hooks on electric mixer, but it can be done well mixed by hand.

    Refrigerate overnight.
