  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 2/3 c. liquid shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. sour milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. diced rhubarb
  • 1/2 c. nuts, chopped

    Sift ingredients together in order given.

    Pour into 2 well-greased and floured loaf pans.

    Fill 2/3 full. Spread evenly over each.

    Bake in a 350° oven for 40 minutes or until tester comes out clean.
