- 1 (5 lb.) boned, rolled rump roast
- 1 Tbsp. cracked pepper
- 1 tsp. beef bouillon
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
- water
Directions

1Rub the outside of the roast with seasonings.

2Do not rub into ends.

3Melt shortening in Dutch oven.

4Brown roast on all sides; drain fat.

5Pour water over roast.

6Add bouillon (or 1 cube). Cover; bake until tender at 325° for 3 to 3 1/2 hours.

7Remove roast; cut into thin slices or chill, then slice.

8Heat in gravy made from drippings.
