  • 1 (5 lb.) boned, rolled rump roast
  • 1 Tbsp. cracked pepper
  • 1 tsp. beef bouillon
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • water

Directions

    Rub the outside of the roast with seasonings.

    Do not rub into ends.

    Melt shortening in Dutch oven.

    Brown roast on all sides; drain fat.

    Pour water over roast.

    Add bouillon (or 1 cube). Cover; bake until tender at 325° for 3 to 3 1/2 hours.

    Remove roast; cut into thin slices or chill, then slice.

    Heat in gravy made from drippings.
