- 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1 c. quick oats
- 1/2 c. shortening or margarine
- 1 c. white sugar
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Pour the boiling water over the oats; let stand for 20 minutes.

2Cream together the shortening or margarine, sugars and eggs.

3Add the remaining ingredients; mix well.

4Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes in an 8 x 11-inch or 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
