- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 6 c. self-rising flour
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water.

2Combine dry ingredients.

3Blend in shortening.

4Stir in yeast and remaining water.

5Let rise until double in size, about 2 hours.

6Form into small balls.

7Put 3 in each muffin pan.

8Let rise again until double in size.

9Bake at 400° until golden brown.

10Makes 2 dozen.
