Roulade(Beef Rolls)

Ingredients

  • 4 breakfast or round steaks
  • salt and pepper
  • mustard
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 4 dill pickles
  • 3 Tbsp. shortening
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. water

Directions

    Beat steaks until thin.

    Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Spread mustard on one side (I do not beat meat).

    Lay a slice of bacon on top of the mustard on each steak.

    Place a pickle at one end of the steak and roll it.

    Tie or use pick to keep together. Melt shortening in a roasting pan and brown on all sides of the steak.

    Add water.

    Cover and cook in a preheated oven at 325° for 1 hour.

    Thicken the sauce with flour.

    Season with salt and pepper.
