- 8 slices thinly cut top round of beef
- 3 bouillon cubes
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 2 dill pickles (optional)
- water to cover
- 1/2 lb. bacon
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- salt and pepper
Directions

1Lay slices of beef on table; lay on slice of bacon, chopped onion, salt, pepper and thin slice of pickle (optional).

2Roll up and stick with toothpick so they do not unroll.

3Sear rouladen in oil until browned.

4Cover with heated water in heavy pot or Dutch oven, add bouillon cubes.

5Simmer until tender, 1 1/2 to 2 hours. thicken gravy in manner you desire, (cornstarch, roux or flour and water).

6Serves 4 to 6.
