Round Steak Parmesan

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. round steak
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/2 c. bread crumbs
  • 1/2 c. parmesan cheese
  • 1/3 c. vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 1/2 lb. mozzarella cheese grated

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350°. Pound steak and cut into serving pieces, dip into egg and roll in mixture of bread crumbs and parmesan cheese.

    In a large skillet brown meat in vegetable oil. Remove meat

    and place in baking dish; saute onion in skillet drippings. Stir in sugar, salt, pepper, tomato paste and water; boil for 5 minutes.

    Pour 2/3 of the sauce over steak; cover with mozzarella cheese.

    Cover with remaining sauce.

    Cover baking dish with foil; bake for 1 hour or until meat is tender.
