  • 16 ounces potatoes, boiled, and mashed
  • 12 ounces cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 large white onion, sliced finely
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup white cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg, grated

Directions

    Preheat oven to 375F.

    Boil and mash potatoes, and set aside.

    Shred cabbage and slice onion, set aside.
  4. 4
    Place butter in a frying pan and set on high heat and melt.
  5. 5
    Add the cabbage and sliced onion,and turn so that the cabbage and onion are coated evenly, and leave till both are wilted; but not burned.

    Add roughly half the cheese and all the potatoes, stirring so that everything is incorporated.

    Season with salt and pepper.

    Place in a corningware serving dish and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.

    Sprinkle nutmeg over the top.

    Place in a hot oven and bake until the cheese has melted and is golden brown on top.
