Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 onion
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • 1 glass white wine
  • 1/2 glass water
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • 1/2 cayenne pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt
  • ground black pepper
  • 2 1/4 pounds clams

Directions

    Add a tablespoon of oil to a skillet on medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and saute for 5 minutes.

    Add the flour and cook for another 5 minutes.

    Add the white wine, parsley, and cayenne pepper and cook 3 to 4 minutes until the alcohol evaporates. Add water, if needed. Add bay leaf, salt and pepper to taste. Simmer 5 minutes.

    Add the clams and cover to steam them, about 3 to 4 minutes.

    Serve warm with bread.
