Ingredients

  • 25 tomatoes
  • 4 large red onions
  • 1/2 to 3/4 jalapeno pepper
  • green peppers (optional)
  • 2 c. white vinegar
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. garlic salt
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. cumin seed, crushed

Directions

    Scald, peel, chop and chunk tomatoes.

    Chop onions in medium sized pieces.

    Chop peppers.

    (The more seeds you use, the hotter the salsa.)

    Mix vinegar, sugar, salt, garlic salt, chili powder, black powder and cumin.

    Mix all together and bring to a boil. Simmer on medium heat for 1 1/2 hours.

    Stir often.

    Place in clean hot canning jars and hot water bath for 15 minutes.
