- 2 c. hot water (not boiling)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. cornmeal (until thick batter is formed)
Directions

1Place in hot water (stir occasionally) until yeast begins to rise, about 4 to 5 hours.

2Make stiff dough, adding salt and shortening.

3Place in greased loaf pan.

4Grease loaf with melted shortening.

5Raise over hot water.

6Bake in moderate oven, beginning slowly.
