Ingredients

  • 6 None whole cloves
  • 1 None cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 cups orange juice
  • 1/2 cup port
  • 1 strip (4 inches) orange peel
  • 3 cups red wine, such as pinot noir
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/2 cup gin
  • 1/2 cup vermouth
  • 1/3 cup grenadine
  • 5 cups 7-Up
  • 1 None orange, quartered and thinly sliced
  • 1 None red apple, quartered, cored and thinly sliced

Directions

    Stir spices, sugar, orange juice, port and orange peel in medium saucepan on medium heat, without boiling, until sugar has dissolved. Simmer, uncovered, for 5 mins. Strain into large, heatproof bowl; cool.

    Add wine, brandy, gin, vermouth, grenadine, 7-Up and orange to juice mixture. Cover; refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight.

    Add apple just before serving.
