- 6 dry sassafras roots (3 to 4-inches in length)
- 1 qt. water
Directions

1Wash sassafras roots well and let dry.

2Put six dry roots, 3 to 4-inches in length, in an enamel pot.

3Cover with water.

4Soak overnight.

5Place pot on stove.

6Boil roots slowly until a tea, dark in color, is made.

7(This will be fairly strong.)

8Weaken and sweeten the tea to taste.

9(The same roots may be boiled each day for several days, as the flavor increases with each boiling.)
