- 3 pounds round roast of beef
- 2 cups dry red wine
- 2 to 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 cup tomato puree
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 8 crushed gingersnaps
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
Directions

1Combine all ingredients except beef to form marinade.

2Marinate beef for two to three days.

3Cook meat in marinade on top of stove over low heat in heavy covered pot, about two to two-and-a-half hours or until tender.
