  • 1/2 lb. sausage
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 3 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. cold water
  • 1 Tbsp. sausage drippings

    Cut sausage into 1/2-inch pieces or form bulk sausage into small balls.

    Fry until well done; drain, reserving 1 tablespoon drippings.

    Arrange layers of potatoes, apples and sausage in a buttered 1 1/2-quart casserole.

    Combine sugar, flour, and salt. Blend with water.

    Pour over layer.

    Drizzle drippings over all. Cover.

    Bake at 375° for 45 minutes or until apples and potatoes are tender.
