Ingredients

  • 1 lb. link sausage
  • 1 lb. bacon
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 1 c. chopped parsley or 1/4 c. dried parsley flakes
  • 1 c. mushrooms
  • 1 tsp. sage
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 loaf bread, 1-inch cubes
  • 2 c. chicken broth

    Fry bacon and sausage; cut in 1-inch pieces.

    Drain on paper towels.

    Dump most of grease; use same skillet to saute onion, celery, mushrooms and parsley.

    Put bread cubes in a large bowl. Sprinkle with sage, thyme and pepper.

    Add meat and other ingredients to bread.

    Toss with large spoon until bread is wet. If needed, add water.

    Dump into greased cake pan.

    Bake at 350°, covered, 30 minutes, then bake uncovered 30 minutes or until golden brown.
