Ingredients

  • 2 lb. beef chuck, cut in 1-inch cubes
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • 3 c. water
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3 medium potatoes, cut
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 small bay leaf
  • 8 small whole onions
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 6 carrots, quartered
  • 1/2 c. flour

Directions

    In a Dutch oven, combine all ingredients except 1 cup water and the flour.

    Cover and bake in a 325° oven for 4 hours or until meat is tender.

    Remove from oven.

    In a covered jar, shake 1 cup water and flour until blended; stir in stew.

    Heat to boiling, stirring constantly for 1 minute.

    Serve hot.
