- 1/3 c. margarine
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 (No. 1) can asparagus tips
- 1 chopped pimentos
- 1/2 c. grated American cheese
- 1/2 c. cracker crumbs
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
- 1/2 c. chopped almonds
- parsley
- milk
Directions

1Melt 4 tablespoons margarine and stir in flour, salt and pepper to make smooth paste.

2Drain liquid from asparagus and add enough milk to make 2 cups.

3Stir liquid into flour paste and cook slowly, stirring constantly until thickened.

4Remove from heat and stir in pimentos, parsley and almonds.

5Cover bottom of 1 1/2-quart casserole with half of asparagus (reserve 6 or 7 tips for garnish), eggs and cheese; repeat and cover with cracker crumbs.

6Garnish with asparagus tips.

7Melt remaining butter and pour over top.

8Bake at 425° for 20 minutes.
