- 2 c. boiling water
- 1 c. oats
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 5 to 6 c. flour
Directions

1Pour boiling water over oats in a large bowl; add shortening. Cool ten minutes to lukewarm.

2Dissolve yeast in warm water and add to oat mixture.

3Add molasses and salt.

4Beat in flour gradually.

5Knead until smooth looking.

6Transfer to Pam sprayed bowl and let rise until double (about 1 hour).

7Punch down. Divide in half.

8Shape into two loaves and let rise in bread tins before baking at 325° for 40 to 50 minutes.
