- 1 small head cabbage (1 1/2 lb.)
- 5 Tbsp. butter, softened
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 2 c. milk
- 1/4 c. ham, diced
- 4 slices bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled
- 1/4 c. green pepper
- 1 c. saltine crackers, crumbled
Directions

1Preheat oven to 375°.

2Wash and core cabbage.

3Cut into 1/2-inch slices.

4Steam for 5 to 7 minutes or until tender.

5Drain and place into a casserole dish.

6Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a saucepan; add flour and stir 2 minutes.

7Add the milk and blend with a whisk.

8Cook over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes until smooth.

9Remove from heat. Mix ham, bacon, remaining butter and green pepper.

10Spread evenly over cabbage. Sprinkle on the cracker crumbs and top with white sauce.

11Bake, uncovered, for 25 minutes until light brown and bubbly.

12Serves 8 to 10.
