Scalloped Tomatoes

Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. minced onion
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 c. soft bread cubes
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 - 28 oz. can (#2 1/2) tomatoes (packed in puree is best)
  • 1/4 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 Tbsp. melted butter

Directions

    Saute onion in butter until tender.

    Add next 4 ingredients. Arrange layer of tomatoes in bottom of greased 1 1/2 quart casserole.

    Top with layer of onion mixture.

    Continue until all is used, tomatoes on top.

    Combine 1/4 c. bread crumbs with melted butter.

    Sprinkle on top of casserole.

    Bake at 375° for 45 minutes.
