- 1 c. soft butter
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 5/8 c. sugar (1/2 c. + 2 Tbsp.)
Directions

1Mix together butter and sugar; stir in flour.

2Mix thoroughly with hands.

3Chill dough.

4Roll out.

5Cut into squares; prick squares with fork.

6Place on ungreased baking sheet.

7Bake at 300° for 20 to 25 minutes.

8The tops do not brown during baking, nor does shape of cookies change.

9Sprinkle granulated sugar on cookies after baking.

10Cool and store in airtight container. Yields 2 dozen 1- inch to 1 1/2-inch cookies.
