  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 1/2 tsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Mix the flour and sugar in a large bowl. Bring to a boil the cocoa, water and Crisco. Add to flour and sugar mixture. Add the buttermilk, eggs, soda and vanilla.

    Pour into greased and floured 11 x 16-inch pan. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes.

    Just as cake comes from oven, pour filling over it while still in pan.
