  • 2 (8-inch) pie crusts
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1 c. dark molasses
  • 1 tsp. baking soda

Directions

    First, mix crumbs together (flour, sugar and shortening) until size of a pea.

    Take out about 1 cup and set aside.

    Mix liquids (hot water, molasses and baking soda), stir together and add your crumbs and fill pie shells 3/4 full.

    Sprinkle your crumbs on top. Bake at 400° for 10 minutes, 350° for 20 to 25 minutes.

    Do not open oven until done.
