- 2 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 5 c. flour
- 1 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1 3/4 c. boiling water
- 1 3/4 c. molasses (sorghum, if available)
- 1 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Prepare or secure pie shells.

2Make crumbs of brown sugar, flour and butter or margarine, then set aside.

3Pour boiling water over molasses and baking soda.

4Pour this into the unbaked pie shells and then put the crumbs in carefully.

5Bake at 450° for 10 minutes and then at 350° for 30 minutes or until done.

6Makes 3 large (9-inch) and 1 small pies.
