- 1 cup flour
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 1 egg
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 9 -inch pie shell
- Garnish: Whipped cream
Directions

1In a bowl combine flour and sugar.

2Cut in butter into the flour and sugar until mixture resembles crumbs.

3Remove 1/2 cup of the crumb mixture and set aside

4To larger part of crumb mixture add egg and molasses.

5Blend in 3/4 cup boiling water.

6Dissolve soda in remaining 1/4 cup water and add last.

7Pour into pie shell.

8Sprinkle with 1/4 cup reserved crumbs.

9Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes.

10Add remaining crumbs and bake 40-45 minutes.

11Garnish with whipped cream
