  • 3 lb. chuck roast
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 2 medium garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. catsup
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. vinegar
  • 2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. red pepper
  • 2 medium bay leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

Directions

    Put beef, onion and celery into pot; add water to cover and cook until tender.

    Cook and shred.

    Refrigerate broth until fat rises to top.

    Remove fat; add 3 cups of broth to other ingredients.

    Simmer mixture, uncovered, for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours over low heat with the meat.
