Shrimp Bisque

Ingredients
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2 carrots, sliced thin
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 tsp. thyme
- 1/2 c. dry white wine
- 1 lb. raw shrimp, shelled
- 1/3 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 to 3 tsp. paprika
- 3 c. milk
- 2 c. half and half
Directions

1Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in large saucepan.

2Saute carrots and onion until tender; add bay leaf, thyme, wine and shrimp.

3Cook just until shrimp turn pink, about 30 minutes.

4Drain shrimp into a bowl, reserving liquid.

5Melt remaining 6 tablespoons butter in same saucepan; stir in flour.

6Cook, stirring constantly, until bubbly.

7Add reserved shrimp liquid to saucepan along with salt, paprika and milk, stirring constantly until thickens.

8Chop shrimp and add to bisque.
