Ingredients

  • 1 lb. shrimp (uncooked), peeled
  • 1/3 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1/2 c. chopped green onions and tops
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 c. chopped parsley
  • 1/4 c. chopped green peppers
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed thyme
  • dash of cayenne pepper
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • hot cooked rice

Directions

    Melt butter and blend in flour; brown, stirring constantly. Add water slowly, stirring until thick.

    Add remaining ingredients, except rice.

    Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove bay leaves and serve over rice.
