Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 lb. shrimp
  • 5 Tbsp. shortening
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 c. green pepper, chopped
  • 6 to 8 green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 c. celery, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. hot sauce
  • 1 large can tomato sauce
  • 1 can water
  • salt, red pepper and black pepper to taste

Directions

    Wash and peel raw shrimp and remove black veins.

    Heat shortening in deep skillet.

    Add flour and cook on medium heat, stirring constantly until rich dark brown.

    Add chopped onions, celery, green peppers, tomato sauce and water.

    Let simmer 30 minutes and bring to boiling.

    Add shrimp and cook 15 to 20 minutes.

    Serve over steamed rice.
