Shrimp Creole

Ingredients

  • 3 lb. shrimp
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 c. celery
  • 5 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 large green pepper, cut fine
  • 2 large onions, cut fine
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 c. or can water
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • salt
  • red pepper
  • black pepper
  • dash of hot sauce
  • 8 green onions (tops and bottoms)
  • 1 can tomatoes

Directions

    Melt shortening and add flour.

    Let brown until very dark but not burned color.

    Set aside and add tomato sauce and water, then add all the cut up vegetables, tomatoes and spices.

    Let simmer about 45 minutes or until all the vegetables are done, then bring to a boil and add shrimp.

    Cook for about 15 minutes longer. Serve over rice.
