Ingredients
- 1/2 c. oil
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 c. green onions, chopped
- 2 pods garlic, pressed
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 3 c. water
- juice of 1 lemon
- 1 bay leaf
- dash of Tabasco sauce
- 2 to 3 lb. raw shrimp
Directions

1Brown flour in oil.

2Add onions, garlic and tomato paste, stirring until paste browns.

3Add water slowly, stirring to be sure of smoothness.

4Add salt, pepper, sugar, bay leaf, Tabasco sauce and lemon juice.

5Simmer for 1 hour.

6Add shrimp and simmer for 20 minutes or until shrimp are cooked.

7Add more water if gravy becomes too thick.

8Serve over rice.
