- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 1 1/4 c. milk
- 4 Tbsp. shortening
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 1/2 to 5 c. flour, sifted
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.

2Set aside.

3Heat milk, shortening, sugar and salt until lukewarm.

4Add to yeast mixture. Stir in flour.

5Cover and set in a warm place for 15 minutes or until doubled in bulk.

6Turn out on floured board and pat until 1-inch thick.

7Cut with biscuit cutter or make in small rolls. Place in pan.

8Allow to rise until doubled in bulk.

9Bake at 450° until brown.
