Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1/3 c. chopped pepper
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 tsp. salt
- 4 c. water
- 1/2 lb. spaghetti
- 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
- 3/4 c. tomato ketchup
- grated Parmesan cheese
Directions

1Break spaghetti into 2-inch pieces.

2Cut tomatoes into pieces. In a large, deep skillet, saute the first 4 ingredients in shortening.

3Sprinkle with salt; stir in water.

4Bring mixture to a boil.

5Add spaghetti; cook, uncovered, for 12 to 15 minutes, or until spaghetti is tender.

6Stir in tomatoes and ketchup; simmer for about 10 minutes to blend flavors.

7Serve with Parmesan cheese. Makes 6 to 8 servings (about 8 cups).
