Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

- 4 pounds Pork Shoulder/Butt
- 3 whole Onions, Divided
- 4 cups Broth Or Water
- 1 head Garlic
- 2 whole Bay Leaves
- 1 teaspoon Whole Peppercorns
- 1 Tablespoon Cumin
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 Tablespoon Chili Flakes
- Barbecue Sauce, To Taste
Directions

1Turn your slow cooker on.

2Put it on high for 6 hours.

3Rinse your pork shoulder or butt.

4Cut the ends off 2 onions and slice them in half lengthwise.

5Peel off the skin.
-
6Slice them thickly and place in the bottom of your slow cooker.

7Take the whole head of garlic (thats about 10-12 cloves) and take it apart.

8Smash each garlic clove with the side of your knife.

9This smashing action loosens the skin, so all you have to do is pull the garlic out of the skin.

10Place garlic on top of onions in the slow cooker.

11Put your pork on top of the onions and garlic and fill the slow cooker with your broth/water.

12If you use broth, you may only need a pinch of salt (especially if you are using store-bought/canned broth).

13If you use water, you could add 2 tablespoons of salt.

14I prefer broth, as it is so flavourful!

15You can leave about an inch of the pork above water.

16Now you want to add all the spices to the broth/water.

17Place the lid on top and leave it alone for the next 6 hours.

18When its done cooking, double-check with a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the meat to ensure its well done (at least 160 degrees).

19Carefully remove the pork to a plate/cutting board and let it rest for a few minutes.

20Drain the broth through a sieve and set aside.

21Youll need this yummy broth to help thin out your BBQ sauce.

22With a fork, pull your pork apart.

23This wont take much effort, but the more time you put into it, the smaller the bits of pulled pork will be.

24Put the pork back into the slow cooker and set it for 1 hour on high.

25Thinly slice the 1 remaining onion and place it in the slow cooker.

26Top with as much BBQ sauce as you like, 2-3 cups of it.

27Thin it out with 1 or 2 cups of the reserved broth.

28Stir as you go, ensuring its not too thin or thick.

29This part is all about YOUR personal preference.

30Let it cook for the 1 hour.

31Slice thick kaiser rolls.

32I like to pinch some of the bread out of the center so that theres room for more pork!

33;o) Generously fill the rolls with the pork.

34Add cheese or a dollop of sour cream, if you like.

35Provolone is an AWESOME cheese for this but any cheese will do.
