- 1 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 c. plain flour
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 4 tsp. sugar
- 4 tsp. ground cinnamon
Directions

1Cream shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.

2Combine flour, cream of tartar, salt and soda.

3Stir into creamed mixture.

4Add vanilla.

5Shape into balls the size of walnuts.

6Combine remaining sugar with cinnamon, mixing well. Roll each ball in cinnamon mixture.

7Place on a greased cookie sheet.

8Flatten slightly.

9Bake at 400° for 8 minutes or until the first cookie begins to fall.

10Yields 5 dozen.
