Ingredients
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 c. sugar (gradually)
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 c. sifted flour
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Mix thoroughly the first 3 ingredients.

2Sift together remaining ingredients.

3Stir flour mixture gradually into creamed mixture one-third at a time.

4Roll dough into balls the size of small walnuts.

5In a custard cup, mix 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon.

6Roll balls in the mixture.

7Place about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

8Bake until lightly brown, but still soft.

9(These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out with crinkled tops.)

10Bake at 400° for 8 to 10 minutes.

11Yield: 5 dozen 2-inch cookies.
